30 Park Avenue, a stirring, beige-brick 20-story building was erected in 1954 and has 237 rental apartments.
The building has a canopied entrance with a one-story polished black granite entrance surround, doorman, terraces and bay windows, protruding air-conditioners and a garage. Kitchens feature cherry wood cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and granite countertops. The building has a 24-hour doorman and a fitness center. David Kenneth Spector redesigned the lobby and hallways in 2007.
It is in the heart of the attractive Murray Hill District, around the corner from the great Morgan Library & Museum on Madison Avenue and six blocks directly south of Grand Central Terminal. This section of Midtown was relatively quiet for many decades, but since the late-1980s new development on Fifth Avenue and near the East River has significantly enlivened the area. Park Avenue above 34th Street in Murray Hill is a visual treat, and with lovely side streets and townhouses. There is good public transportation nearby at 34th Street.
