One of the most interesting and unique aspects of life in Manhattan is that governments from virtually every nation on earth have diplomats living here on a permanent basis. Very few American cities can say the same, and it’s part of the reason that Manhattan has few competitors when it comes to attracting apartment buyers. Apartment residents who live near consulates enjoy the distinction of this rarity, and chances are their apartments are pretty nice; consulates set up shop in some of the nicest pre-war townhouses and apartment buildings in Manhattan.
