The Upper West Side is typically known for its classic brownstone townhouses that line the streets and are only a short walk away from Central Park. While most of those still stand, over the years the neighborhood has gotten a large amount of modern apartment buildings that give the area a beautiful mix of old and new. Here are three of the hottest and newest additions to the UWS.

Just two months ago a beloved Brooklyn bookstore officially closed after being in business for over 30 years. The owners of the quaint store sold the two buildings to developer Eastern Capital for $13.6 million. Recently, some news has been unveiled on what the plans are for this space.

A unique addition to Downtown Brooklyn has officially been topped out. At 237 Duffield Street, the 21-story mixed-use tower has reached its full height of 210 feet. Once complete, the building will hold 110 apartments and retail space.

854 Seventh Avenue currently via Google Maps

Extell has scooped up yet another new development site, a former Carnegie Deli that closed just last year. Located in West Midtown at 854 Seventh Avenue, the building currently stands six stories tall, but that won't last long.
