Lower East Side Spotlight: Three Classic Rentals

While the Lower East Side continues to welcome new developments, we’ve decided to put the spotlight on some of the neighborhoods more classic residentials that still have availability.

It has been confirmed that not one, but two new high rises could be added to the Lower East Side skyline, with a third beginning renovations.

Low Rents and Cool Culture Draws Residents to Alphabet City

Despite the seemingly kid-friendly name of Alphabet City, this neighborhood situated within the Lower East Side was, for a long time, known as one of the gritty and grimy neighborhoods of New York City. However, the wild days of Alphabet City have drawn to a close and the neighborhood today has become an increasingly desirable place for young people and families, who are taking advantage of Alphabet City’s transformation into one of Manhattan’s hip, trendy and, most importantly, affordable neighborhoods to live in.

Lower East Side Ripe With Affordable Manhattan Rentals

Lower East Side New York City Manhattan Rentals

The Lower East Side in downtown Manhattan is a neighborhood that invokes different things for different people. For many New Yorkers, the neighborhood still stands as one of the most saturated immigrant and working class communities in the city. For others, the Lower East Side is the place to go if you want to indulge in all that downtown living has to offer while finding some of the best real estate bargains in Manhattan. Luxury rentals in Manhattan are in as high demand as ever, and as the extravagence of the neighborhood and building amenities increase, so do the prices. According to the New York Post, rental apartments are cheaper on the Lower East Side than in Manhattan as a whole, and many New Yorkers are willing to trade in excessive amentiies for a better deal.

The Last Burst of Summer: August Rental Market Soars

Manhattan Luxury Real Estate - August Rental MarketAutumn is beginning to assert its balmy presence in New York City. With the days slowly becoming shorter, the neighborhood kids back in school, and the ferocious heat cooling to our current mild climate, summer is swiftly becoming a fond, not-quite-distant memory. Though August has ended, its effects will linger well into the fall. We’ve steadily posted throughout the summer about the boost the warmest season gives the Manhattan real estate market -- and predicted that the enthusiastic uptick of the market would continue. But the summer NYC rental season ended with a bang that exceeded even our small blog’s expectations. The Manhattan rental market has recovered completely from this time last year, and jumped ahead in some aspects more than others.

Summer In The City: Rents Rise With Temperatures, But Deals Are Still Out There

You’ve got your fired-up barbecues, of course. And the beach trips and baseball games and farmer’s markets and sweltering subway stations and, with ever more frequency, weather nice enough to induce the urge to simply lie down and relax wherever or take long, otherwise unmotivated walks. All of which is to say that it’s officially and incontrovertibly summer in New York City. With all those good things (and the sweltering subways, which one eventually just learns to deal with) comes another NYC summer tradition -- the arrival of the annual warm-weather boom in Manhattan real estate. We noted its first green shoots in the Luxury Rentals Manhattan blog last month, and -- same as it does every summer -- the Manhattan luxury rental marketplace is in something very much like full bloom as July arrives.

Of course, as anyone searching for an apartment in NYC already knows, the words “strong Manhattan real estate market” bode better for landlords than those browsing Manhattan rental listings. But there’s good news for both renters and landlords alike in June’s luxury rental statistics. Sustained high demand and lower vacancy rates will (as they usually do) delight landlords. But those browsing Manhattan rental listings can take heart knowing that there are still plenty of deals to be had on luxury rental apartments.
